APT
Originally called “Apta”, the site of a military camp on the Domitian Way, “Julia” was added as a tribute to Julius Caesar, whose “pax romana” had already praised the frequent intermingling between Romans and indigenous populations.
MENERBES
From the top of a rocky spur overlooking the Luberon garrigue and vineyards, the fortified village of Ménerbes and its castle watch over the neighbouring Most Beautiful Villages of Gordes and Roussillon.
ROUSSILLON
In Roussillon, on a hill between the mountains of the Vaucluse and the Luberon, an artistic god spread his palette across the land to our good fortune. Under the azure blue Provençal sky the earth blazes with color, broken only by the deep green of the pine forests.
BONNIEUX
Built on a plateau above the valley, Bonnieux is one of the finest villages in the area. The houses spread out on the hill-side form a striking harmony of earth-toned colours and shapes.
LACOSTE
Stroll through its narrow streets full of history and admire the remains of the Marquis de Sade Châteaudun restored by fashion designer Pierre Cardin, its medieval heritage and its stone size de houses.
SAIGNON
Saignon covers an area of 1960 hectares. It is bounded to the north by the Calavon and to the south by the Claparèdes plateau, while a small mountain stream, the Rimayon, passes through.
